When love for wine and reason go hand in hand.

"I remember how a few years ago the owners of Chateau Appony approached me to see if I would be interested in working as the in-house sommelier of this château. Looking down the hill through the glass, I looked at the ruin that stood there at that time and said: If you build a hotel from those 'crumbling bricks', I will select the best wine in the area and bring it to the tables of your guests," recalls Samuel Barantál about the beginnings of his cooperation with Chateau Appony.

Love and reason

Many years have passed since that fateful look, and today Samuel truly holds the position of sommelier at Chateau Appony. Together with the hotel management, they set a clear goal from the opening: to focus on local products, including winemakers. But from day one, they also stick to an interesting business policy that could be summed up in two words: love and reason. They agreed almost immediately that their love for wine and sensible business approach is the best foundation, resulting in a satisfied client.
